Neymar Jnr. completes world record €222 Million signing to PSG

At the press conference held this afternoon, Neymar said: ‘The club has a very similar ambition to mine, I want a bigger challenge. My heart made this decision, that is why I am in front of you today to help this team.

‘Being a star did not impact my decision, it is down to me wanting to find a new challenge. I am looking for something new. This is what PSG want, and they deserve it.

‘I leave a lot of very good friends behind, but that’s football. You make friends wherever you go, and that’s the main thing. It was the right time to leave and look for something different. Being the most expensive player is not a burden, I am happy.

‘I spoke with Brazilian players here at PSG, and they were happy for me to be here. I feel like I am at home already.

‘Two days ago I informed the coach, he was the first to know, I respect the club and the coach. I am very happy with my decision, I am excited.’

Hundreds of fans of the football club, are presently in a long queue in Champs Elysees, Paris, to purchase a replica of Neymar’s No.10 jersey.

Sports: Neymar agreed to join Manchester United

MANCHESTER UNITED almost beat Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of £196million Neymar, according to ​L'Equipe,

The french outlet revealed Old Trafford chiefs negotiated the same deal last summer and went on to claim the Brazilian superstar had agreed personal terms but the move collapsed at the last minute.

PSG didn't make the same mistake as Manchester United as they're about to sign the Barcelona forward for a world record. Neymar's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, has confirmed that his client will join Paris Saint-Germain by "the end of the week", according to journalist Gerard Romero.

The Brazilian forward's representative claimed that PSG will pay his €222m release clause and he will be unveiled at a presentation by the end of this week.

He said: "PSG will pay the release clause and Neymar will be presented in Paris by the end of this week."

Neymar briefly arrived at training for Barcelona on Tuesday to say his goodbyes to his current teammates.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have confirmed in a club statement that the 25-year-old has expressed his desire to leave for PSG.

"The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the club in a meeting held at the club’s offices," the statement read.

"Faced with this position, the club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals 222 million euros which will have to be deposited in its entirety.

"Furthermore, in reply to the claim for the contract extension bonus, the club has once again made it clear that the amount remains deposited with a notary until the case is resolved.

"The player remains under contract at FC Barcelona but with temporary permission to not take part in training sessions."

Neymar and Ribeiro will now travel to Paris in the coming days to finalise the world record transfer to the French capital.
