1. She started rapping when she was young
Young M.A.'s music dreams began when she was still in elementary school. Now 25, she started rapping at the corner store in her Brooklyn neighborhood when she was nine years old, and kept going from there. She cites 50 Cent and Jay Z as the artists who influenced her in childhood.
2. She is working on her first album
Young M.A. already has several mix tapes and EPs out right now. How do you think "OOOUUU" went to the top of the charts? But she is yet to release an official album. She is reportedly releasing her first in 2017, called "Her story in the making."
3. 50 Cent is her major influence
Ask Young M.A. about her influence and the answer is always 50 Cent. According to Young M.A., it was 50 Cent's "Wanksta" record that caught her attention but it was his sing "Many Men" that inspired her to rap. Young M.A.'s love for 50 Cent ran so deep, that she even admitted to once posting on Facebook, "Anyone who has beef with 50 Cent, has beef with me."
4. She was almost on Empire
In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Young M.A. said that she was offered the role Frieda Gatz on Empire. It eventually went to Bre-z instead. Her reason for turning down the role? She wanted to pursue her music career and be famous for being herself, she didn't want to be know as a character.
5. Nobody knows her real name
Young M.A. is only known as Young M.A, and she wants to keep it that way. The rapper has never publicly shared her real name, and its still unclear if she ever will.

The following April, during Mobb Deep's New York performance in celebration of the The Infamous 20th anniversary, Buckshot introduced the rapper to the crowd as "one of the dopest MCs right now". The same year, aligned with Buckshot's Duck Down for marketing and distribution, Young M.A released the track "Body Bag" and the six-track EP SleepWalkin, then prepared her proper debut. Ahead of its release, the roughneck lead single "OOOUUU" reached the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2016.
