Italian Journalist Claims Man Utd Have Agreed £40m Deal With Monaco for Midfield Enforcer

Italian Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has claimed Manchester United have agreed a deal with Monaco to make Fabinho their second signing of the summer.

The 'transfer expert', who lists Gazetta dello Sport, WhoScored, FIFA Weekly and The Sun amongst others as affiliates in his Twitter bio, has reason to believe a deal has been struck between the two clubs over the transfer of the defensive midfielder.

He says that the £40m deal won't officially be announced for another fortnight whilst Fabinho is enjoying a summer break, after a highly successful season with Monaco. The Brazilian was a key figure for Leonardo Jardim's side, who claimed the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 2000, edging out dominant force Paris Saints Germain in the process.

As far as Serie A expert Giulianelli's reliability goes, he has pinned a tweet to the top of his profile that states he was the first to break the story that Shkodran Mustafi was going to join Arsenal from Valencia last summer, which was quoted by German paper BILD.

Fabinho is primarily a defensive midfield player, but has the versatility to be able to fill in at right-back too. And he doesn't just defend - the former Real Madrid man actually scored 11 goals in all competitions last season, meaning United could well end up with very useful signing on their hands.
