PHOTO: Cristiano Ronaldo Accused of Racism After He Adds 'Controversial' Caption to Instagram Post

Cristiano Ronaldo has come under fire following a caption to a post on his Instagram account.

Posing with his friend Jose Semedo, Ronaldo called the pair of them "black and white chocolate" with many people accusing him of racism.

"You're racist​​" was one of many responses to Ronaldo's post which did still get over three million likes.

Other users decided to tell the Real Madrid superstar that if he was attempting to be racist, it wasn't the best attempt: "Isn't it supposed to be dark chocolate, not black?" one fan pointed out.

As often with big stars, plenty of Ronaldo's fans leapt to his defence, one user said: "Cristiano you might get some hate for this caption for some reason, people are sensitive. So just be aware."

Ronaldo was enjoying some time off after representing Portugal at the Confederations Cup. He scored in group stage wins against hosts Russia and New Zealand but couldn't prevent his Portugal side from a semi final defeat to Chile.

Ronaldo will now link up again with his Real Madrid team mates ahead of the International Champions Cup where head Real head to the USA for fixtures against both Manchester clubs and La Liga rivals Barcelona.
