Garry Ash set to perform at Music on the Square

Garry Ash and the Wildfire Band will take the stage as the featured act at Yellville’s Music on the Square on Saturday night.

Music will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday night on the courthouse square in Yellville. There is no cost of admission and Yellville Masonic Lodge 117 is this week’s sponsor.

Fronted by singer/songwriter Garry Ash, the 2012 Academy of Western Artists Pure Country Male Artist of the Year, the group focuses on country, dance-hall music. Their set list includes songs in the style of Ray Price, Bob Wills and Merle Haggard and features prominent steel guitar and fiddle work. While primarily a pure-country band, the group’s repertoire also includes 1970s rock staples from Creedence Clearwater Revival and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Ash, 61, has been playing dances, rodeos, fairs and shows for 40 years. He has opened for Doug Stone, Eddy Raven, Leona Williams, Leon Rausch and the Texas Playboys, Gene Watson and Tony Booth.

Ash has also recorded three albums: “Wildfire Live,” “Montana to Texas,” and “The Man in the Moon,” which hit European top 20 lists for several months and appeared in the Top 10 playlists for several internet radio stations across the United States. Ash’s current release is “Rise This Barstool,” a three-song EP.

Music on the Square vendors will be selling snow cones, funnel cakes, fried pies and other food Saturday night. Attendees will also be eligible to win door prizes, which will be drawn at intermission.
